Delhi's air quality deteriorates; continues to be in 'severe' category

New Delhi: The air quality continued to be in the ‘severe’ category on Wednesday morning in Delhi. The average hourly air quality index reading reached 435 at 7 am.

As per the data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the overall AQI was recorded at 418, which is in ‘severe’ category on Tuesday.

There was a significant deterioration in the air quality of Delhi as the AQI was 332, in ‘very poor’ category on Monday.

On December 5, the city had last recorded the air quality in ‘severe’ category with AQI at 404.

The pollution continued to exacerbate from Tuesday morning. The average hourly AQI reading deteriorated from 352 at 7 am to 377 at 12 pm.

Now, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that there are no chances of improvement in the wind speed till December 26 and hence pollution levels might increase.
