Grand Omaxe makes friends with nature on Friendship Day

About 70 children from Grand Omaxe, a residential society in Sector 93B, Noida, participated in a programme held on Sunday to mark Friendship’s Day by inculcating awareness about the importance of nature.

A group of four women residents organised several activities that included a “greenathon,” a lecture on environment and distribution of saplings as a symbol of making friendship with nature. Monica Katiyar, Megha Balani, Preksha Singh and Nidhi spoke about the environment to the children.

Monica Katiyar, who has started an awareness campaign about nature, said, “I have a residents’ group called Go Green. The team organised a ‘Greenathon’ for increasing awareness about the environment among kids. It started with an introductory session about nature. And then, around 70 children took a short walk to raise awareness about saving the nature.” There were seven children whose parents also took part in the walk.

A lecture on environment shed light on the varieties of trees, especially those growing in the society. It was followed by a quiz related to nature.

Later, the participants were given saplings and awarded certificates of participation.
