New Delhi: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has opened a garbage cafe to dispose off plastic waste in Najafgarh zone. Under the concept, free meals will be given to the citizens who will bring plastic waste to the cafe.

For bringing 1 kg of plastic waste, free meal will be provided by Diamond Sweets Restaurant in Vardhman Mall in Dwarka. The meals can include breakfast/lunch/dinner. The plastic waste includes empty water bottles, cold drink bottles, plastic canes and other plastic items.

Deputy Commissioner Najafagarh Zone Radha Krishan said that in bid to keep the city plastic free, SDMC started this initiative where needy people and rag pickers can also take advantage of this facility of free meals.

“This innovative step will contribute towards recycling of dry waste and also bring behavioral change in society towards promoting reduce, reuse and recycle of plastic waste,” he said.
