Residents of Ganpati Apartments, a residential society in Sector 9, Dwarka, participated in a fire-safety mock drill organised in the society. This was aimed at making them more aware about how to prevent fires and to teach them fire-fighting methods.
The programme was organised by the managing committee of the society, in which National Fire Service officials demonstrated techniques and equipment to stop fires. Children also participated in the demonstration and were acquainted with the use of fire-safety equipment.
TP Singh, secretary of the society, said, “We have renovated the whole fire-fighting system in the society. It was pending for about four to five years. Now, after the completion of the renovation, we wanted to check if the system worked properly. We invited residents and the staff to make them aware of fire-fighting methods and the use of the fire safety equipment. We want to raise awareness of disaster management in the society.”
According to the managing committee, many infrastructural changes, such as installation of new lifts, have been made in the society.
