Founder of Mumbai's iconic Guru Kripa restaurant and Samosa dies at 76

Mumbai: Founder of iconic eatery Guru Kripa in Mumbai, Vishindas Wadhwa died on Saturday. He was 76 and suffering from a heart ailment. The iconic Guru Kripa restaurant in Sion is known for its Samosa. Majority of single screen movie theatres in the city serve samosas from the iconic eatery.

Mr. Wadhwa belongs to a family of refugees who came from Pakistan following the partition. The eatery has been operating in Mumbai for the last 46 years.It was set up in 1975 and apart from samosa, it also serves Chhole Tikki,Chaat, Lassi and Jalebi.

Over the years, the foods prepared at the restaurant were savoured by all section of society in Mumbai. Celebrities like Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan have been fond of the restaurant.

Students from the nearby SIES college swear by the food items that the restaurant serves. The little known fact of the owner is how he had employed several youngsters who used to sell his samosas on a cycle and support themselves. The lip smacking flavor of the samosa will definitely retain his sweet memories in the days to come.
