New Delhi: During the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, South African all-rounder Chris Morris became the most expensive player in the history of the Indian franchise cricket. He was sold out at Rs 16.25 Crore.
He had a a base price of only Rs 75 Lakh. Last year, he played for Rajasthan Royals.
Earlier, Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh was the most expensive player who was sold at Rs 16 Crore in 2015. Steve Smith became was the first cricketer to be sold out in IPL auction 2021.
All-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham became the most expensive Indian buy, going for Rs 9.25 crore to Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Jhye Richardson (Punjab Kings at Rs 14 crore), Glenn Maxwell (Royal Challenger Bangalore at Rs 14.25 crore) and Riley Meredith (Punjab Kings at Rs 8 crore) were some players who enjoyed major attention in the auction.
