Netizens pounce on Saina poster release, say it's a Tennis ball serve

New Delhi: After a long wait, the poster of Saina Nehwal's biopic was released on Tuesday but it soon landed in controvery. Many netizens pounced on to it by pointing a mistake in the poster. They said that the protagonist is serving the shuttlecock like it happens in a Tennis game and not Badminton.

In the poster, a hand was shown throwing the shuttlecock up in the air. The tweeples were quick to dismiss the poster and started saying many things on the platform. Netizens observed that the way the shuttlecock is being served in the poster is far away from how Badminton players do it. Most of them were of the view that the player's stance was similar to how Tennis players serve the ball. Some people linked this to the Sania Mirza story.

On Wednesday night, while resharing the film's poster on Facebook, the director of the movie Amole Gupte said, “Too much speculation in the digital media about the poster… “looks like a tennis serve… Saina doing a Sania” etc etc… If Saina is the flying shuttle, then clearly, the girl’s hand with the National colours wristband is the hand of the Indian Girl Child aspiring to reach Saina’s height!!! (sic)”

The movie is scheduled to release on March 26. In the movie, you will see Parineeti Chopra, essaying the epic journey of the world-renowned badminton player. The movie is Directed by Amole Gupte and the poster of the movie has already started to create buzz on social media.
