New Delhi: March is celebrated as the nutrition month. It focuses on helping people in correcting their eating habits and food choices. “It's not about dieting, it's about having a healthy lifestyle,” says dietitian and nutritionist Shiimpy Matharu.
Shiimpy Matharu is a mother of a two-year-old girl child and an entrepreneur. She is the founder of 'Your Diet Lounge' and has transformed 10,000+ lives with her knowledge and experience. Matharu talks about women compromising on their nutrition part while trying to shed kilos. She says, “Starving can never help in losing weight, instead it might lead to some deficiency disease.”
Matharu says being a woman herself she always wanted to do something for the women. She being a dietitian by profession highlights that she is a hardcore Punjabi by heart, by that she meant that she was a born food lover.
Matharu wanted to change the pre-existing notions of dieting. She says that one can lose weight while eating their favourite foods and not starving. “Healthy eating is a habit, and being a mother I understand how hard it is for a mother to make their little ones eat the right kind of nutritious food,” she says.
She loves to experiment with food. At her home, she follows 'taste bhi - health bhi guilt-free recipes', these recipes include veggies overloaded whole wheat pizza and multi-grain paneer kathi rolls.
She herself has been a victim of child obesity. Post marriage, she had put on more kilos. Obesity caused hormonal imbalance in her body which made her struggle even harder. She went for gyming, crash diets, supplements and everything failed her.
