RESIDENT SPEAK: Green Circle organises web chat on waste management

Dwarka: An experience sharing webinar was organised by Green Circle as Green Circle Web Chat. This is a novel initiative to make the environmental enthusiasts talk about their practical experiences. The topic chosen was household waste and how to manage it effectively.

Ranjanaa Sarraf, a resident of Dwarka and member of Green Circle shared her experience of preparing bio enzymes and making home compost in an easy way. She added that leftover food waste like fruit and vegetable peels could be a great source for preparing bio enzymes as well as compost. She also talked about the proper utilisation of RO water for cleaning purposes.

About 50 participants joined the webinar through Zoom and Facebook live and shared their views on household waste management. Participants came up with a number of ideas which included a society level campaign to augment the RO waste water on a collective basis.

Sarraf also exhibited the 20 litre bio enzyme prepared by her during the Covid period. Accumulating electronic waste known as e-waste was a cause for concern. Need for proper handling of e-waste was also discussed during the web chat.

The program was well received with lots of experience sharing by all participants. Members appealed to Green Circle to take initiative to create awareness among residents to manage the household water usefully.

Members from Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai participated in the webinar. It was decided to hold such meetings online periodically to discuss the important environmental issues.
