Celebrate Elton John's 74th birthday with his huge hits

New Delhi: Today marks the 74th birthday of one of the most celebrated pop artists of all times, Sir Elton Hercules John. The English music artist has entertained generations with a career span of over five decades. Born as Reginald Kenneth Dwight, he started his career quite early and formed an R&B band Bluesology at the age of 15.

In his brilliant and long career, he has gathered several accolades to his name. Having sold more than 300 million records, making him one of the best selling artists ever, he was knighted by the Queen on February 24, 1998, making him Sir Elton John for his contribution to the music industry.

Even though he was successful in his career, John has had his own struggles, starting from his parental issues at home to exploring and accepting his sexuality. The star has also been a victim of substance abuse because of which he had to go to rehabilitation.

After fighting and coming back from that, he started his own charity organisation ‘Elton John AIDS Foundation’ to help fight against the disease.

Instead of all the controversies and taboo around homosexuality, John married his partner David Furnish, a Canadian filmmaker and has two sons with him.

John has always been known for his over the top style, especially in his live performances. He didn’t consider himself a sex icon like most pop artists of that time, so that was his way of gathering attention of people.

Today, on the occasion of his 74th birthday, let us have a look at some of his most memorable works:

Candle in the wind (1997)

Can you feel the love tonight

Sacrifice

Sorry seems to be the hardest word
