It's been a decade since Indian cricket team lifted the World Cup!

New Delhi: It's been a decade since the team India won the Cricket World Cup 2011. The entire country was on halt sitting in front of TV screens to witness the glorifying victory of team India. On April 2, 2011, team India sealed the trophy. The final match was played between India and Sri Lanka and India won the match with 6 wickets. India had lifted the trophy after 28 years.

India’s ex-allrounder Yuvraj Singh was declared Man of the Series and then Indian Captain, MS Dhoni was declared the man of the match. World Cup 2011 was held between Feb 19 and April 2, 2011. It was hosted by India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

The first time India won the World Cup was in 1983 and after 28 years, team India again brought glory to the nation by getting hands on the World Cup. That was indeed a very special moment for every indian across the world. The final match was played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, India. It was a very proud and emotional moment at the same time.

As today marks a decade to the victory, members of the World Cup winning team shared their emotions on the microblogging site Twitter.

Suresh Raina shared a tweet on Twitter with a captioned “#10years of  winning the World Cup, fulfilling the dream of every Indian around the world. It’s such a nostalgic feeling where I can relive each moment of lifting the trophy & making our country proud. It will be cherished  forever. #Worldcup2011 #IndianCricketTeam @BCCI.”

Ravi Shastri, the present coach of the Indian cricket team posted, “A day that  will always be etched in the memory of every Indian cricket lover. Well done guys! #WorldCup2011.”

Yuvraj Singh, the Man of the Series of the 2011 cup shared an emotional video with a caption, “April 2, 2011 - a day when history was  created!
