New Delhi: BAFTAs or known as British Academy Film Awards were held on April 10 and 11 at the Royal Albert Hall in London. BAFTAs honored the National Film and Foreign Film of 2020 and early 2021. The awards were presented by the British Academy of the Film and Television Arts.

On Sunday, BAFTAs Awards 2021 paid tributes to the late Bollywood actors Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan. The BAFTAs Awards began with a tribute to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who died on April 9. The tribute also included the legendary actors Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan.

BAFTAs also recollected Hollywood stars like Chadwick Boseman, Sean Connery, Kirk Douglas, Ian Holm, Barbara Windsor, George Segal, Christopher Plummer. After this, netizens started flooding Twitter with emotional posts on BAFTAs tributes to Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan. One of them read, “Proud Moment for India.”

In April a year ago, Rishi Kapoor died at the age of 67 years after battling cancer for a couple of years. Earlier, the film fraternity lost Irrfan Khan after a hard-took conflict with malignant growth.  Entertainer Chadwick Boseman, who was most popular as the nominal Black Panther in the Marvel hero film, too had cancer and passed away in August. He was only 43. He, after death won the Best Actor Golden Globe this year for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.

Actor Riz Ahmed mentioned Irrfan Khan in the winning speech at the Gotham Awards held in New York recently. He quoted a lesson Irrfan Khan gave to his son Babil: “Surrender to the dance of uncertainty.”  Back home, at the recently held Filmfare Awards, Irrfan Khan was given the Best Actor Award for his performance in Angrezi Medium.
