20th Dedication Day celebrated at Noida Shaheed Smarak

Noida: 20th Dedication Day was celebrated at the Noida Shaheed Smarak on Tuesday. Lt Gen GL Bakshi, Chairman, lit the first candle at the onset of the dusk on the base of the cenotaph. Candles were lit by many attendees and passers by as well.

Nargis Naqvi, wife of martyr, Sqn Ldr IH Naqvi and her children; Seema Anand, wife of Lt Col BR Anand; Sunita Chibber, wife of Capt Varun Chhibber; Flt Lt JP Sharma, father of Capt Shashi Kant Sharma; and  kins of other martyrs, Lt Gen SK Singh, ED of Shaheed Smarak; Lt Gen Surinder Verma, Maj Gen DK Sen, Brigadiers Shashi Vaid, Arun Bali, Cols Venish Rai, Amar Singh, Mahender Kumar, Sanjay Kharbanda, Gp Capt Manocha and heads/reps of societies of Arun Vihar and Jalvayu Vihar, members of Executive Committee of Sanstha, Jayoti Rana, Principal, Army Public School and her students; and citizens of Gautam Budh Nagar lighted the candles and paid homage to 38 martyrs.

Noida Shaheed Smarak is the first Tri-Services Memorial in the country. It was raised by citizens of Noida to hounour its war dead. The names of 38 Martyrs, belonging to Gautam Budh Nagar, who have sacrificed their lives for the Nation, have been engraved. It was dedicated to the Nation by then three Services Chiefs on 13 April 2002.

The event was organised with proper adherence to the Covid guidelines.
