New Delhi: The Capital on Wednesday recorded 24,638 new Covid-19 cases, taking the cumulative tally to 9,30,179. It was the fourth consecutive day when more than 23,000 coronavirus cases were reported from the city.

Delhi reported 28,395 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, 23,686 on Monday, 25,462 on Sunday, 24,375 on Saturday, 19,486 cases on Friday and 16,699 cases on Thursday.

The number of new cases reported came out of 78,768 tests conducted on the previous day. At least 45,088 RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 33,680 rapid antigen tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. The positivity slightly dropped to 31.28 per cent from 32.82 per cent on the previous day. The cumulative positivity was 5.64 per cent, slightly higher than a day before.

Two hundred forty nine people succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 12,887. On Tuesday, 277 deaths were reported from the city. It was the highest single-day fatality figure.

A total of 24,600 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 8,31,928 in the national capital.

The active cases declined by 211 in the national capital. The total number of active cases declined to 85364 from 85,575 on the previous day.

As far as vaccination drive is concerned, a total of 49,461 people received vaccines in the last 24 hours. A total of 34,627 people received the first dose of the vaccine whereas 14,834 people received their second dose. So far, 27,22,958 persons have received vaccines in the national capital.

Out of the total 19,753 beds in coronavirus hospitals, 2,426 are vacant. The tally of people in home isolation jumped to 42,768 from  40,124 on Tuesday.
