New Delhi: Finally, Punjab Kings (PBKS) won after three consecutive losses. They won against Mumbai Indians (MI) at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. PBKS did a good job in a low-scoring match and achieved the win with nine wickets in hand.

KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, captains of the teams led from the front and brought up their fifties. MI’s lower-order failed again and the result was the same, a low scoring total of 131 runs in their 20  overs while losing six wickets.

KL Rahul won the toss and invited MI to bat first. However, the wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock lost his wicket in the second over to Deepak Hooda. Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan walked to bat at number 3 and he also gave away his wicket in the seventh over.

After Ishan's dismissal, Suryakumar Yadav came to bat. Rohit scripted a  crucial 76-run partnership. Rohit Sharma emerged as the highest  run-getter for the defending champions with his knock of 63 runs off 52 deliveries. Suryakumar also contributed  33 runs.

The bowlers of Punjab ruled the match and showed their disciplined  bowling effort and managed to restrict Mumbai’s explosive batting line-up. Mohammed Shami and Ravi Bishnoi both picked two wickets and Deepak Hooda and Arshdeep Singh also had one under their belt.

Both the openers of PBKS, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal gave a good start as they stitched 53 runs. However, Rahul  Chahar gave the first and only breakthrough to MI, taking the wicket of Agarwal in the eighth over.

After this Chris Gayle and Rahul took Punjab over the line and registered their second win of this season. Rahul played a captain’s knock of 60 runs off 52 deliveries. Gayle also contributed by adding 43 runs in 35 balls.
