New Delhi: In order to augment water supply in Delhi, Delhi Jal Board Vice-Chairman Raghav Chadha paid a surprise visit to the Underground Reservoirs (UGRs) in central & west Delhi on Thursday at 4:00 am.

After visiting the areas, he instructed the officials to maintain the predetermined water levels at each reservoir to ensure an uninterrupted water supply. The V-C checked the morning water levels and the UGRs’ electrical and mechanical equipment health status. He then called the residents of the area to confirm availability of water. The residents confirmed that water was now available and thanked him for his efforts.

Chadha and his team visited the reservoirs of central & West Delhi, including R block UGR & Ridge Road UGR. These two reservoirs supply water to New Rajinder Nagar & Double Storey and Old Rajinder Nagar areas, respectively.

The V-C shared a tweet that said, “Inspected several water reservoirs of Central & West Delhi with Delhi Jal Board officials at 4.00 am this morning to check the water supply. Given strict instructions to officials to maintain pre-determined water levels at each such reservoir so that water supply is regular & uninterrupted.”

The visit aimed to boost the water supply in the city's west and central parts during peak summer. Once the water from the Water Treatment Plants reaches these reservoirs, it is then supplied to various residential areas. During the visit, V-C Chadha checked the morning water levels and instructed the officials to maintain the same levels throughout the day.
