Gurgaon comes to a standstill after Monday's heavy showers

Waterlogging in several parts in the city after heavy rainfall on Monday again brought Gurgaon to a standstill, with many commuters fearing a repeat of recent flooding that had left thousands of commuters stranded on NH 8.

Many places including Shankar Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Sohna Road, Manesar, Udyog Vihar, old Gurgaon Road, and a few areas in New Gurgaon experienced heavy traffic snarls on Monday.

Despite several measures announced by Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and top police officials after the July 28 traffic gridlock that stretched over several hours overnight, commuters had to again face a tough time.

“I am stuck at Shankar Chowk for the past one hour and I don’t think the traffic will get clear before midnight," said Sanjay, working at an MNC in cyber city.

Commuters were left stranded on city roads earlier in the day as auto-rickshaws went on a flash strike to protest the recent police action against them.

People stuck in traffic were tweeting about Haryana government's negligence even after a month had passed since the city had been inundated and there was no steps taken by authorities to deal with this kind of situation.

“A month has passed since the last waterlogging incident but authorities haven’t dealt with the issue. It's the same old story since the past three to four years,” said Vineet, a resident.
