GDA demands a local registrar office for Ghaziabad and GB Nagar

Ghaziabad Development Authority has written to the Principal Secretary (Finance) of the Uttar Pradesh government, demanding a local registrar office for Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar. Currently, both GDA offcials and AOA representatives have to travel about 70 km to visit the deputy registrar office in Meerut. The letter demanded that an office be set up in either Noida or Ghaziabad.

The Deputy Registrar (Societies, Funds and Chits) is frequented by both GDA officials and AOA representatives to solve issues such as registration, elections and audits. Besides, there have been complaints from residents that since officials in Meerut are so far away, they, on occasion, fail to understand the problems societies face and pass orders without a proper investigation.

The letter by the vice-chairman of GDA also mentioned that while Meerut had a population of 34 lakh, Ghaziabad and Noida have a population of 46 lakh and 16 lakh respectively. Earlier, FedAOA had sent a letter addressed to the principal secretary mentioning that the concentration of societies was higher in Ghaziabad and Gautam Budh Nagar and that the population of the region was set to rise exponentially in the coming years. This made the requirement of a local registrar office all the more important and a matter of public interest.
