Dwarka: Residents visit DJB office to raise issue of water scarcity

Dwarka: Many residents from societies, located near Ashirwad Chowk, on Tuesday visited the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) office to raise the issue of water scarcity in the area.

Around 70-80 residents reached the DJB office at 12 pm. They complained that no one was available at the office to hear their grievances.

Mahesh Gupta, Secretary of DDA SFS Sector 5, said, “Our visit went in vain as both executive engineer and junior engineer were not present at the office. Earlier, we had informed the department about water issues on many occasions. But there has not been any headway.”

Gupta said that the supply of water is inconsistent in societies. He shared that there are some flats in his society where there is no proper supply of water.

“The situation is worsening in the rear side of the pocket day-by-day. In the last one month, the entire pocket is grappling with water scarcity. Water level in the Underground Reservoir at Sector 4 (Harmony Apartment), which is catering to DDA flats Pocket-1 at Sector 4 (228 flats), Sector 11 (167 flats) and Sector 5 (364 flats) has also gone down by about 5 feet against the level of 9 feet,” he said.

In a letter written by the RWAs of Sector 5 DDA pocket, they have mentioned that the supply is erratic from Command Tank 3 to the UGR of the area. Due to insufficient supply, the society that gets water from the particular UGR are affected.
