Same old, same old…

Thanks to Noida Authority’s consistent apathy, the city has been left waterlogged yet again, with just a few hours of morning rain.

Same old, same old…

Just a few hours of heavy rains on Wednesday morning laid bare the empty claims of Noida Authority about cleaning clogged drains.

There have been reports of waterlogging from many residential sectors across Noida. The roads are submerged in knee-deep water and the basements of several residential societies are flooded.

Sandeep Singh, AOA president of Prateek Laurel Apartments, Sector 120, said the basements had ankle-deep water due to heavy rains in the morning. This made things difficult especially for officegoers, who had to plough through the dirty waters to reach their cars. Had the drains been cleaned before monsoon, the situation would not have come to this, complain residents.

Other societies — JM Orchid in Sector 76, and Prateek Wisteria and Elite Homz, both in Sector 77 — also reported similar problems.

Nisha Rai, a resident of Prateek Wisteria, told City Spidey that the problem had escalated for residents of the E and the M blocks. The water even entered ground-floor flats. "This was bound to happen, since the builder had not cleaned the clogged drains," she added.

Residents of Sector 51, too, had to wade through knee-deep water on the sector road. Sanjeev Kumar, RWA secretary, said the situation was the outcome of the Authority’s apathy and that this could have been avoided had the drains been cleaned on time.
