Dwarka: The parking issue is prevalent with the growing markets in Sector 6 & 10, Dwarka. Vehicles are being parked on the service roads and on the main road as there is not enough parking space near commercial places.

On the service lane from Sector 6/10 in front of societies from Adarsh Arya Apartments, Sector 6 service line to Shakuntalam Apartments and Harsh Apartments, Sector 10, vehicles can be seen parked on the roadside leaving traffic for the pedestrians on both sides of the  road. There is also less space left for the other vehicles to commute.

Harish Kumar, General Secretary of Saral Apartments in Sector 10 said, “All the vehicles get parked in front of societies which is a big issue for residents .”

He continued, “All market areas lack proper parking space. Even the e-rickshaws stand there for passengers. This will grow and create a difficult situation.”

The situation has become so worse that vehicles on the service lanes are being parked on both sides, leaving just a narrow space to walk through or commute. Besides, parking cars on main roads in front of  the market area creates all sorts of problems for the commuters during the evenings and weekends.

Residents of the societies like Adarsh Arya Apartments, Saral Apartments, Harsh Apartments etc. are facing problems due to parked vehicles on the service lane in front of the societies. They have complained about the subject to the civic bodies but there is no relief in this direction.

Pulkit Gupta, a resident of Adarsh Arya Apartments said, “I could not understand how the authorities have failed in planning parking spaces in this area. They should think over it seriously.”

The authorities should take serious note of these issues, to ensure free space for the traffic movement. They should also make sure the rules made by them are followed in letter and spirit.
