Greater Noida: On August 27, the residents of Aishwaryam Society, Gaur City 2, Greater Noida, raised the issue of the non functioning and insufficient fire safety system in their society and wrote a letter to Senior Fire Officer to inspect the society's fire safety systems.

Residents alleged that the builder acquired the NOC by fraud as there are no proper fire safety equipments in all the towers. Hose pipes are not sufficiently long. There are no fire alarm safety systems in society. Basements 1 and 2 have very few fire extinguishers. Around 400 residents live in the society and this negligence puts their safety on risk.
Arnismesh Kumar, AOA President shared that, "Apartments don't have functioning sprinklers. There is no connection of hosepipe to the flats. The builder neither checked the water flow through the hose pipes. After so many complaints from the fire department, the fire extinguisher was fixed in society. We are not demanding anything big, we just want our basic needs for our safety."
Deepak Prasad Gupta, Secretary of AOA said, “The fire hydrants in basements B1 & B2 are not in fit to use condition, they need to be updated with fire hose, reel and nozzles. A fire point needs to be set up in both basements near the security guard post consists of both types of fire extinguishers. Many fire shafts, especially in the D and E towers are found without fire hoses and nozzles.”
He further added, “The fire reel in many fire shafts doesn't have nozzle. Fire shafts are found filled with personnel belonging of residents. All fire lockers/shafts need to be cleaned and kept locked and key should be available with tower guards. Though the fire alarm system of all towers is working satisfactorily but some tower guards aren't trained to operate fire alarm systems. The testing of the fire smoke sensor and sprinkler was has not been done. Presently 01 DCP extinguisher is fitted on every floor of all towers. The serviceability needs to check regularly and recorded on the attached card.”
SK Gupta, builder of Aishwaryam Apartments said, "These are wrong allegations. We have NOC which is not easily accessible in a less safe system in society. If anyone wants to visit our society, we welcome everyone our manager is there, visit it and check all things on your own."
Ajay Kumar Singh, Fire Safety Officer said, “We will schedule the inspection list soon.”
