The potholed service lane in front of Dream Apartments, in Sector 22, Dwarka, has become a cause for concern for residents. This, they say, was caused by leakage from a damaged water pipeline.

The road runs along the Master Plan road that provides access to the sector.

TC Batra, secretary of the society, said, “This problem began a couple of months ago after a water pipeline was repaired by the Delhi Jal Board [DJB]. The DDA also carried out repair work on internal roads. But the leakage was not properly fixed, and pipes began running again within a couple of weeks. Now the road repaired by the authorities has been damaged. The potholes are getting worse by the day.”

Residents are also worried about mosquitoes breeding in these waterlogged potholes. Vishal Sinha, treasurer of the society, said, “It is not just water wastage we are concerned about, but also the health threat. DJB and DDA should look into the matter as soon as possible.”

The society wrote to DJB in August about the issue but nothing was done. Batra said, “We sent a letter to the DJB chief engineer but it seems no one took note of it. This is such a casual approach. They should act immediately to resolve the issue.”
