Noida- Thickets coat street lights leading to darkness on lanes

Noida: The residents of Mahadev Apartments, sector 73, Noida hesitate while going outside after the sunset. According to the residents, there are many trees surrounding the society which haven’t been pruned for a long time, due to which the branches fall on the street light and cover them completely. The roads become completely dark and nothing can be spotted after the sunset. The residents of the society have complained to authorities several times but no action has been taken in this regard. The residents are in fear that due to darkness on the streets, the threat of criminal activity can increase in the area.

Brajesh Sharma, a resident of Antriksh Golf View, Sector 78 tweeted, "Noida Authority please intervene and help".

CitySpidey talked to Sharma to understand his concerns. He said, "The darkness on road at sector 73 near Mahadev Apartments is a long and persistent issue that was communicated by residents to concerned higher officials but all efforts in vain".

"I don't allow my children to go outside after sunset. It is very dangerous, anything can happen, the entire area looms in the darkness from late evening onwards. This has been the case for months now. It is not that we don't have street lights but trees thickets coat the street lights. It requires immediate trimming.", said Khushbu Singh, a resident of Mahadev Apartments.

“After sunset, the situation gets worse. Despite repeated reminders to the authorities and concerned officials, no one is willing to fix this problem. We are living in a completely dark area. If anything happens in future, who will take charge of it?", said  Krishna Kumar Singh, another resident of Mahadev Apartments.

"I have written a letter to the Chief Executive Officer of Noida also but no action has been taken till now. We are demanding to just trim a tree portion which is falling on the street lights", said Shrivastav, another resident of Mahadev Apartments.
