About 600 homebuyers in Jaypee Group’s projects protested against the builder in front of its office in Sector 128, Noida, on Saturday and demanded their money back.
They said they had booked their flats in 2010 and that possession had been slated for December 2014. However, construction work in various towers has either not been completed or not started at all.
A representative of the homebuyers met an official from the Jaypee Group in their office. He was told that construction of 70 towers in Wish Town and Sports City would start this month. After two months, the official said, he would give a schedule for the other towers.
Saurabh Saxena, a homebuyer, told City Spidey that he had paid 95 per cent of the flat’s price to the builder, but still didn't a flat to call his own. “We buyers are staying in rented houses. Due to the loan we have taken for our flats, ouor entire salary is going into paying EMIs and rents,” he said.
Aparna Mehra, another homebuyer, said, “If the Jaypee official wanted a meeting, why are the bouncers and the police here?”
When City Spidey took up the matter with Sameer Gaur, CEO of Jaypee Group, he said, “At the moment, the company has money for construction of only 70 towers. Later, we will inform our buyers of the schedule pertaining to the other towers.”
