Pehla  prakash purab of guru granth sahib is celebrated every year which takes place on the 15th day (new moon) of Bhadon, the sixth month in the Punjabi calendar, which occurs in August or September in the western calendar. This year pehla parkash purab of guru granth sahib ji is going to take place on 7th September 2021.

Guru Granth Sahib Ji hymns were written by Sikh gurus: Guru Nanak, Guru Angad, Guru Amar Das, Guru Ramdas, Guru Arjan, and Guru Tegh Bahadur. It also contains teachings from thirteen Hindu saint poets and two Muslim saint poets.

Sikhism has always encouraged oneness and no discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, gender, which can be seen in the compilation of spiritual teachings by saints from different backgrounds in guru granth sahib. Guru Granth Sahib is written in Gurmukhi, which was first discovered by guru nanak dev and later it was standardized by Guru Angad dev in the 16th century.

Phela prakash purab of Guru granth sahib Ji happened in September 1604 by Baba Buda in gurdwara Harminder Sahib situated in Punjab, Amritsar.

Every day some rituals are followed in respect of guru granth sahib namely, sukhasan and Prakash. Prakash is called the opening of rituals where guru granth is taken out of chambers, with devotees singing Kiran for them early morning. Closing ritual is called sukhasan where devotees sing kirtan, carry granth on their head and take them inside in palki.
