Adarsh Apartments: Residents leave as society becomes unhabitable after rain

Dwarka: Residents of Adarsh Apartments would never ever thought about the crisis arrived this weekend after the rain in Saturday. The society is submerged into water and the ground floor residents are not even able to use their toilets and bathroom for more than 24 hours.

The crisis has gone worse as they are leaving the society to take shelter in their relatives’ homes till the water gets drained out. As said by the sufferers, they have been in serious crisis as there is no electricity and water supply since Saturday.

Residents leaving their houses as crisis makes life impossible

While visiting the society, it was learnt that around 200 ground floor flats are now getting vacant as residents of those flats are leaving the society since morning.

Satya Kausani, a resident of ground floor flat said, “Now it is a matter of survival here as my family is without water and electricity. We didn’t even use toilet or did brush since Saturday because the entire floor is full of water.”

As informed by the RWA, there was no response from any authority or public representatives like MP, MLA or councillor. They tried to reach out to all the sources but received no positive result.

As informed by the general secretary of the RWA, Devesh Mundepi, the MLA passed the subject as municipal corporation’s responsibility and the councillor passed the subject saying this is the responsibility of Delhi Jal Board and the MLA.

“What can we do when the public representatives are not taking interest. Also, the civic bodies too were not serious about our condition. Now we have hired a private machine to drain out water from the society. Let us see till when we will be able to get success,” said Mundepi.

People gathered at the gate of the society were in anger. They also closed the main road for few minutes to show their concern and crisis. The residents are sharing photographs of the crisis in different WhatsApp groups of residents.

“Since Saturday, we have been trying to get any help but no help arrived till now. Even we called on emergency helpline number of NDRF, yet the number was not correct on the site. This is unfortunate and we are
suffering a lot,” informed Mundepi.

As said by the residents, the sewer and garbage water has accumulated in the area. It is getting very toxic. The waterlogging can create several health issues to them. They are under fear.
