Dwarka: Garbage mound troubles commuters in Sec 11

Dwarka: The backside lane of Sector 11 Metro station, Dwarka is full of debris and garbage. The lane is being used to dump domestic waste, debris or building construction material, waste generated from the nearby metro station and also from the houses.

There is a lack of sanitation and absence of maintenance everywhere you see. It is in such a shocking state since this is such a modern and planned metro station hub. With a growing population and increase in commercial activity, the problem is getting aggravated.

In spite of all the complaints and issues raised by residents and commuters, the problem continues to persist. The back lane of Sector 11 metro station is always stinking also because construction waste is thrown on the backside of the metro station.

As informed by the residents and commuters, the back lane has also become a concern of safety and security as hooligans are using the stretch for anti-social activities.

Nupur Mehta, a resident of Sector 11 said, “Mosquitoes, flies, and other insects are breeding and the residents are facing great health risks. With frequent showers, the garbage starts rotting, and the filth and unclear garbage result in a continuous stink.”

Heaps of garbage lie uncleared for days. It starts stinking and gets scattered all over the place. It is a very filthy ward sight. It looks like the authorities have forgotten this place and this waste has become a dumping ground for garbage.
