World Rabies Day: NDMC vaccinates 51 dogs and raises awareness

New Delhi: On the occasion of World Rabies Day, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) organised a free Vaccination Camp against rabies in dogs at NDMC Veterinary Hospital, Moti Bagh, New Delhi today with the aim to raise awareness about the impact of Rabies on humans and animals.

Chairperson, NDMC - Shri Dharmendra inaugurated a free Vaccination Camp against rabies in which 51 dogs were vaccinated and issued the rabies vaccination certificate.

NDMC veterinary department distributed free food packets for the puppies and adult dogs.  Moreover, informative printed material on the prevention and control of rabies were given to all pet owners during the camp.

Besides Secretary NDMC - Dr B.M Mishra, Medical Superintendent of  NDMC Veterinary Hospital - Dr Promod Kumar, MOH Dr Ramesh, CMO - Dr Shakuntla Shrivastva were also present.

World Rabies Day is observed each year on September 28, the anniversary of the Death of Louis Pasteur, who developed the first efficacious rabies vaccine. It is a United Nations Observance and endorsed by International human and Veterinary Health Organisation such as World Health Organisation.

It is celebrated to raise awareness about the impact of rabies awareness and provide information on how to prevent & control rabies.
