Mayfair Residency: Residents carry out candle march against power cut

Greater Noida: The residents of Mayfair Residency, a residential society in Greater Noida West, carried out a candle march on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday for not having electricity in their flats. On September 30, the residents raised the issue of not having electricity in the society for more than 24 hours.

According to the residents, builder owes around Rs 5 lakh to Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL). They shared that within a month and a half again, the electricity of Mayfair Residency was cut. The same incident happened on August 17.

Last time, residents filed a complaint against the builder in Bisrakh police station.

According to the residents, the builder paid Rs 2 lakhs to NPCL to fix the electricity temporarily, and again there was an electricity cut during the night of October 1. Residents alleged that the diesel for the generator was not available and due to this, they faced difficulties.

Prateet Baijal,  a resident of the society said, “The whole society is lacking in basic amenities. Now it is a day-to-day routine of the Mayfair residents to face such difficulties. Last time in August, the same incident happened, moreover at that time, the builder also paid a temporary amount and tried to fix the issue temporarily. This time, he did the same thing and we don’t know when the electricity will be cut again.”

Another resident on the condition of anonymity said, “The builder paid the temporary amount and fixed it temporarily and we do not know when the electricity will be cut again. Last night again there was an electricity cut and the diesel for the generator was not available and due to this, we did a candle march for the poor work of the builder. We are facing difficulties on a daily basis.”
