Life gives us many reasons to smile. One of them is buying a home and finally living in it. Apna ghar or one’s own home is a symbol of security and safety for families. From receiving the first salary and then thinking about retirement plans to live peacefully in the purchased home, is what every family desires. But when things turn in the opposite direction then this lifelong dream can turn into a nightmare. This is what more than 2500 buyers of Logix Blossom Zest are going through. Some buyers bought the flat through loans while many had invested their life savings.
80 years old, Krishan Khanna, resident of West Delhi bought two studio apartments in 2011 for both of his daughters. Khanna made 90 percent of payment by the beginning of 2013 out of his lifelong savings. “I booked this property as a gift for my two daughters whereas I am living in my West Delhi residence. The condition of many other homebuyers is pathetic who live in rented accommodation, take bank loans, pay EMIs and yet don’t know when they will get their dream homes”, said Khanna.
As per agreement with Logix Zest, Khanna was to be given possession by the 3rd quarter in 2013. But it was not given. Thereafter he sent many emails/messages, made phone calls, visited the builder’s office in Noida several times but no result.
“For the last 6-7 years this project has been totally stalled. There is no response to our phone calls/emails at all. This is a similar position to other 2500+ home buyers like me. In 2018 I filed a case with RERA who after consulting the builder gave orders to hand over possession to me by March 31st 2020. However, the builder never honoured the order and now seems to have disappeared from Delhi. As the situation prevails I don’t think I will be able to get possession in my lifetime. Some other suffering home buyers have also filed cases in RERA and NCDRC”, said Khanna.
Khanna learnt tweeting two months back only to raise his voice against the Logix builder. By buying this flat, he wanted to secure the future of his daughters financially as every father thinks. “Two/three homebuyers, like me, took the lead to give a protest demo outside the builder's office. That’s how we homebuyers started meeting and lastly formed an association to fight together”, said Khanna.
He also said, “ I only want Logix to give me possession of my flats without any further delays. Logix Zest already owes hundreds of crores as land dues to Noida authority. Don’t know when Logix will solve this problem with the Noida authority. Perhaps this is one of the reasons for stalling this project”.
Khanna concluded by saying, “banks are equally responsible for this mess. They are already bothering homebuyers for EMIs payments when they know this project is stalled for so many years. Besides, they seem to be hand in gloves with the builder and his cronies, who are still giving fake advertisements about ready to move-in apartments in Logix Zest with availability of bank loans. Banks despite the situation are still offering loans to trap innocent buyers.”.
