South West Delhi to organise 'Best out of the waste' competition

Dwarka: The office of District Magistrate, South West Delhi, has come up with a “Best out of the waste” competition to encourage people to come forward and show their creativity by turning waste materials into useful items. The objective of the competition is to promote eco-friendly alternatives over single-use plastic. The competition has been conducted under the Clean India campaign.

“Best out of waste competition” may involve creating useful items out of waste materials in surroundings like shoeboxes to jewellery organisers, old newspaper to paper made products, old metal cans to pots, pencil stands, glass jars to candle holders, cloth bags, jute bags etc. Thus, finding practical solutions to replace single-use plastic with environment-friendly alternatives.

There will be three categories of participants: schools, colleges and the general public. The interested participants (one participant from each interested school or college) can send their entries by October 23, 2021 to cleanindiaswdelhi@gmail.com.

A maximum of 30 entries are allowed in each of the three categories and they will be selected on a first come first serve basis. The tentative date of the competition is October 29, 2021. All the details about the competition (date, time and venue) will be sent to the selected participants through email.

All the participants will receive a certificate of appreciation from the district administration. Additionally, the top three winners from each category will be awarded cash prizes.

Ajit Swamy, President of All Dwarka Residents Federation (ADRF), said, “Naveen Aggarwal, District Magistrate of the South West has taken a great initiative and we as a part of ADRF are with them in this initiative.”

Sudha Sinha, President of the Federation of CGHS, Dwarka said, “It is a great initiative for all the Dwarka residents and we should take part in it too.”
