‘Happy Fridge’ to put an end to wastage

New Delhi: M- Block Residents Welfare Association with the assistance of the NGO Feedindia, have arranged for a Happy Fridge in M block, which provides home-cooked ready meals all year round 24x7 and cold water during the peak summer months.

Many households inadvertently throw food at the end of the day, as the surplus is more and the consumption is little. At the same time, there are several who go hungry for lack of means. Taking this reality into consideration, the managing committee and MBRWA President Ms Gudiya Gupta, with the assistance of the NGO Feedindia, have arranged for a “Happy Fridge” in the M block.

The initiative of installing the Happy fridge in the society for the needy was done on 1 October 2019, and it’s been running till now. President Gudiya Gupta said, “Our motto at MBRWA is to serve humanity and nature.”

As gathered by her, M- Block Residents Welfare Association has always ensured the best services to their residents, their staff & human beings as a whole. Hence, besides catering to their social & civic needs, they also venture out to provide freshly prepared, home-cooked, pure & hygienic meals. Discarding & disposing of surplus foods is disrespecting nature and thus, providing the same to anyone in need without any questions is faithful service to humanity.

Ms Gupta added, “I thank all residents for being such a wonderfully close-knit family and supporting the RWA  in this initiative.”

The residents, while talking about the initiative, highlighted “how convenient and helpful this happy fridge is for hungry people and for those looking out for food”.

They further shared that there are many times when food is left after a party or a get-together, and now they don’t throw or waste the food; they simply put all the leftovers in the happy fridge. 

This noble initiative can be taken up by other RWAs across Delhi NCR to put an end to wastage and hunger.
