Indirapuram: Garbage in Shipra Suncity put on fire, residents complain

On Wednesday evening, the garbage lying in the cottage area of Shipra Suncity was set on fire anonymously.  Smoke spread to the whole area within a few minutes. Residents of the society isolated themselves inside their homes and lodged a complaint about the issue to the Pollution Control Board and police.

The fire smoldered for an hour. The residents alegated ward member Sanjay Singh and one other for this incident.

Pollution Control Board’s officers reached the incident spot on getting the complaint. They also informed Ghaziabad Development Authority about the issue. Pollution Control Board assured that the CCTV footage will be scanned and suitable action would be taken against the guilty.

“The allegation of garbage burning on me is baseless. Some workers came to work in society and set fire to the garbage. The fire was extinguished immediately. We are carrying out the operation ‘all clean’ in society for cleanliness and sanitation. I will complain against those who are throwing garbage in the open in NGT”, Sanjay Singh said.

“There was a small fire in the garbage. No one got into any trouble. Fire was controlled immediately. RWA is continuously making people aware about pollution control”, said Veeda Chawre, RWA President.

One of the residents of the society, Pragati said, "We already suffer from pollution at this time of the year. In such a situation, this is more trouble. The authorities must take this issue seriously”.
