Noida: Burning garbage and plastic waste is harmful to the environment as it releases toxic chemicals which pollute the air. This polluted air can be inhaled by humans or animals which can cause severe health-related issues. However, despite knowing such facts, trash burning is still prevalent in many sectors of Noida.

A resident, Sanwarjeet Singh tweeted a picture of Sector 79 sports city plot where garbage was getting burnt. He wrote in the tweet, “Someone has burnt the garbage thrown near the plot of Elite Golf Green, Plot of Sector 79 Sports City. Earlier, a complaint had been made by tweeting that the garbage is being thrown here.”

Singh said that he has tweeted about this garbage issue earlier also but till now no action has been taken.

On the same day, a similar incident was reported from another part of the plot of Sector 79 Sports City, which is close to Barley Hilston Society.

“The contractors are dumping plain solid and plastic waste there,  animals are also eating this waste. Also, garbage is getting burned at  this plot”, said Singh.

Today, an incident was reported from Sector 63 where a fire was set in the junkyard on Bahlolpur Pusta Road from Sector 63. A resident, Amit Gupta has tweeted about this incident saying, “The authority making big claims does not see the burning garbage in Sector 63 and  Sector 77”.

Amit Gupta, a resident of 7X said, "Illegal garbage dumping is happening across Noida especially in sector 77 behind mandi, sector  79 green belt, and sector 63. Then this garbage is burnt. How is so much garbage coming on the road in the first place? Noida authority should take action on this."

In Noida and Greater Noida, Garbage burning has been identified as the major reason for Air Pollution. The air of the city is getting polluted due to the open burning of garbage. The AQI in various parts of Noida and Greater Noida is severe 5 days post-Diwali.
