The popular and awaited MTV Music Awards 2021 Europe unfurled on Sunday. The evening's big winners were the K-Pop band BTS, who dominated the ceremony with the most wins. Ed Sheeran walked home with two major awards: Best Artist and Best Song for "Bad Habits".

BTS received the most awards, including Best Pop, Best Group, Best K-Pop, and Biggest Fans, but they were not present to accept them. Other artists who won major awards on a star-studded evening included Yungblud, who won Best Alternative.

K-Pop band BTS won many awards

The László Papp Budapest Sports Arena in Budapest, Hungary, hosted the 2021 awards ceremony after hosting the event online in 2020. The show was inspired by Budapest's famous thermal spas and the Danube, the city's main river, and featured a water theme with stages that appeared to float.

The event was aired in 180 countries worldwide Saweetie hosted the event, and she was also a winner, taking home the award for Best New Artist. Ed Sheeran, Maluma, and Rita Ora were among those who attended the red carpet event.

Sheeran opened the proceedings with a rendition of his latest single, “Overpass Graffiti”, and later on presented his hit number “Shivers.”

Doja Cat and SZA won Best Collaboration for "Kiss Me More," David Guetta won Best Electronic, and Billie Eilish was honoured with the Video for Good award.

Taylor Swift won for the United States, and Little Mix won for the United Kingdom and Ireland in the regional local act categories.

With eight nominations, Justin Bieber was the frontrunner, but he did not win any award.

Interacting with "Squid Game"-inspired soldiers in hot pink suits and MTV-branded masks was one of Saweetie's hosting highlights. She also sang a medley of her hit songs, including "Best Friend," "Tap In," and "Out Out."
There were also performances by OneRepublic, Maluma, Imagine Dragons, Måneskin, Griff and Girl in Red.

YUNGBLUD closed the night with a pyrotechnic performance of his latest single, "Fleabag,".
