Delhi government's Public Works Department has decided to beautify the planters under the Metro track outside East End Apartments in Mayur Vihar Phase I Extension. Currently, the planters are in a terrible condition, with the area mostly being used as a garbage dump. About 80 per cent of the fence around the planters is broken.

"The entire stretch will be revamped in the next two months," said Rampal Tomar, assistant director (East Delhi) of the horticulture department. "The drainage system will be renovated and more than 2,000 saplings will be planted."

Mehakar Singh, junior engineer, civil department, is in charge of the area's civil work. "We have already floated a tender for repair work of the fence," he said.

The area has been an eyesore for East End residents for a long time now. The society's managing committee had approached several departments of the Delhi government for relief from the problem, but it is only now that their voices are being heard.
