GreNo- Cricket Tournament organized in Park Avenue 1, Gaur City

Cricket fever gripped the residents of Park Avenue, Gaur City, Greater Noida, recently, as they competed among themselves in a T-10 Cricket tournament. The tournament was organised at a cricket ground near the society on November 20, 2021.

The spirit of sportsmanship could be seen with the teams from different residential towers in the society competing against each other. In all, 45 residents, including children, participated in the tournament.

The finals took place after three league matches between three teams. The teams which participated were as follows- team 1 'Veer Shivaji' (representing Tower ABCD), team 2 'Maharana Pratap ke ladaake' (representing tower EFG), and team 3 'Prithivraj Chauhan Warriors' (representing tower HIJ). Team Veer Shivaji won the finals against Maharana ke Ladaake in an exciting and dramatic last-ball finish where they won by just 1 run. Kush Yadav from Maharana Pratap ke ladaake team was declared 'Man Of the Match’ for his fighting innings and Himanshu from Veer Shivaji team was adjourned 'Best player of the tournament for his all-round performance.

The society's senior and respected elder, Arun Tiwary presented the trophy to the winners.

It was the second edition of Park Avenue Khel Mahotsav which was organized as a T-10 Cricket tournament by the Park Avenue Cultural Committee (PACC) at Earth Cricket Ground, Haibatpur, Near Gaur City. The first edition of Khel Mahotsav was organised in 2019 before Covid.

Gaurav Gupta [36] a resident, said, “This event was conceptualized during the T-20 world cup. The competing teams were made up of residents from all age groups, which made the matches even more interesting. We also plan to organize the 3rd Khel Mahotsav soon with more sports”.

Rajnish [30], AOA member of society, said, “There were three pairs of father and son, three pairs of brothers playing the tournament. Families playing together was fascinating to watch.”

Residents said that all players were amazing and everyone cheered for each other like one big happy family. They also said it was nice to see people from all age groups coming together for a common cause and spend the day in kneen sporting spirit.
