Ghaziabad secures 2nd position in Swach Survekshan 2021

The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has secured the 18th rank in the country and second in the state in the Swachh Survekshan 2021.  The district has improved its place in the state and nation list as compared to last year.

According to a letter written to the Mission Director of the Urban Bodies, Swachh Bharat Mission, Municipal Corporation Ghaziabad has decided to purchase 324 new vehicles for collecting garbage from houses in 100 wards. Along with this, 133 e-rickshaws will also be procured, so that garbage can be lifted from the narrow streets. Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation is taking the help of the Human Matrix Agency working in Indore to keep the city clean.

On September 28, 2021, the dump yard in the Rajnagar extension was shut down because of widespread resident protests. Municipal corporation Ghaziabad has been unable to find a substitute for that dump yard since then. A lot of discussions have taken place between the district authorities of Ghaziabad and Hapur for dumping garbage in the Galand region where Ghaziabad Municipal corporation owns a total of 44.25 acres of land. However, no results have come out till now.

Sanjiv Sharma, a shop owner at Dasna gate, said " It is really hard to believe that Ghaziabad is second in cleanliness in this state. This is a proud moment but we should make efforts to completely clean the city. The municipality should make real efforts to find a place for dumping the garbage."

Vishal Kumar, a municipal corporation worker said " We are doing our best to keep roads clean". On being asked about the door-to-door service garbage collection, he said: " Some people cooperate, some don't. We go in the morning but people throw garbage in the evening so it remains there until the next morning."
