Dwarka: Darkness looms over the stretch from Atulya Chowk, Sector 18 to Dwarka North Police Station via Bank of Baroda yet again. The whole lane remains dark during the night in Sector 18b & 17, Dwarka.

BSES people are working continuously but the main reason for the faulty streetlights is that all the systems, including the poles, are out of date. BSES repairs the lights every time we raise the issue but the entire system is old and needs to be updated.

Electric Division 5 of DDA will have to install new poles and a new system. This should be done as soon as possible because the process takes lots of time.

Senior citizens and women, in particular, are the worst sufferers as darkness poses a threat to their safety. People not being able to see the road clearly for potholes can get hurt. Moreover, everyone faces the risk of getting knocked down by motorists.

I, V K Khanduja and other people have time and again raised this issue but the dark lanes in Dwarka are still a problem. We have also provided photos and videos for highlighting this issue in media but no work has been initiated done by the authorities yet.

An added issue is that most of the street lights are covered with tree branches which need to be pruned regularly.

We hope that the authorities take cognisance of the issue at hand and take immediate action. All Dwarka citizens will appreciate it if the matter is resolved fast.
