Community leaders voice their views on ‘Power of Community’ II

CitySpidey, in association with Vegas Mall Dwarka, organized an event on the theme 'Power Of Community' at Vegas Mall, Sector-14, Dwarka on November 20, 2021. During the event, the community heroes of Dwarka were honoured for their efforts and contribution to community building.

CitySpidey talked to community leaders to know what they have to say about the event, the need, and the power of the community.

Neha Raizada, a cyclist

Neha Raizada, a cyclist says, “As a woman and being a full-time homemaker, I never did cycling. In January, I started it as a hobby. My hobby turned into a passion and the journey which I started with a short bike ride of 5 to 10 km in Dwarka has reached 600 km till now. The most important thing is that I gained confidence in myself and I made an effort for such a long-distance solo ride in one stretch. I have my new targets now and am determined to go a long distance. So as a part of the community, I would like to say that nothing is impossible, just have an honest approach. Thanks for inviting me to such an event.”

Amod Poddar, a social activist

Amod Poddar, a social activist says, “There is a power in community and that I have realised while working with underprivileged kids. We have been running an NGO called Stand N Stride and working on issues related to underprivileged kids. I would like to appeal to citizens to come forward and make an effort to give a better shape to our society.”

Urmila Sharma, a social activist and founder of Dwarka Progressive Club

Urmila Sharma, a social activist and founder of Dwarka Progressive Club says, “We know that if we all work together for any cause, we would be successful. We have been working to make Dwarka plastic-free. We, at the first level, are working on single use plastic. As a step in this direction, we are distributing cloth bags made from waste materials. Together we can do wonders and make the whole of India plastic-free”

Shashi Kumar, a volleyball coach

Shashi Kumar, a volleyball coach says, “I have been training mainly girls from underprivileged sections of the society. I have realised that it is the community that encouraged me and supported me to carry the mission. I am happy that I could boost the confidence of those kids. They have immense potential. I am thankful to CitySpidey and Vegas that I could meet more people like me and realise how powerful as a community we are together.”
