Broken drain creates hassle for commuters

The drain near the Shani temple on the way from NH-9 towards the Vijayanagar police station is broken. This problem has persisted for two months, but the municipal officials have not done anything to repair the damage leading to a harrowing time for the commuters using this stretch of the road.

The road in question sees heavy traffic every morning and evening as the road leading to Sarvodaya Nagar has been closed due to the broken drain.

Arvind Singh, a resident of Sarvodya Nagar says, “The area residents have been facing a lot of hassles due to this broken-down drain. The road leading to Sarvodaya Nagar has been closed due to the breaking of the drain. Due to this, thousands of people living here are suffering. When a person is sick, even an ambulance cannot pass easily to take him from home to the hospital. People have to take the longer route to the hospital.”

Rajendra, a tea stall owner near the scene, says “Municipal corporation has been promising to construct this sewer line from the last two months but they have not even put a brick there. At least they should clean the debris from the road.”

CitySpidey spoke with Shrikant Rana, Junior Engineer, construction Department. Says he, “The contract of drainage construction has been given to the M/s Mahamaya construction. The work will be completed within a month. We regret the delay which has happened because the last blueprint was not correct.”
