It would be a big boost to the sporting culture of Ghaziabad. Till now having only one proper sporting facility in Mahamaya Stadium, the area now has another addition to its sporting infrastructure in the form of a new sports complex.

The new sports complex, built on 26 acres of land by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), is located in Raispur. It was inaugurated by Union Minister of State General VK Singh on November 27, 2021. The CPWD has spent about rupees 1.5 crores on its construction so far.

Apart from athletics, the sports complex has facilities for more than 10 sports including kabaddi, wrestling, javelin throw, shooting range, volleyball, throw ball, hockey, football, and badminton. The sportsperson can use these facilities without any charges. Coaches of each sport will also be appointed. The maintenance of the complex will be the responsibility of the CPWD.

“Soon there will also be an open gym in the sports complex. Apart from serious sportsperson, the facilities would be open for youngsters and other health-conscious people. We will make sure that every sporting facility is provided to the players.” says Manoj Chaudhry, ward member, Raispur.

Md. Zabbar Ali, an athlete, says, “I am practicing for middle-distance races. This complex will help me a lot in practicing better and longer.”

Ankit Kumar, a student, says, "I am preparing for Government examinations. I need to practice for my physical test. A sports complex in this part of the city will help me a lot. I have so many friends who have been going to other places or practicing in parks or gyms in the absence of a proper sporting facility. But now they have a good option in the form of this new sports complex.”
Ramakant Dubey, a resident, says, “ I am 60. I have a routine of morning walks. We have very few proper parks in this area and these get too crowded. This sports complex will be a much-needed facility for senior citizens.”
