Dwarka: Suron Ki Mehfil, a winter afternoon full of melody

The winter afternoon of December 4, 2021, turned melodious for Dwarka citizens. It was after a long wait that a music event was organised by the Association of Neighbour Hood Ladies Get Together (ANHLGT), a women group, and Melody Foundation in SDMC Community Hall, Sector 23, Dwarka.

The event was named 'Suron Ki Mehfil' and a total of 17 singers participated in it and impressed the audience with their performances. The event started at 2 pm and went on till 6:30 pm. The participants were spread across all age groups with the youngest participant being 18 years old and the oldest being 70 years old.

Kritika Sharma and Neeru Gupta anchored the whole event. It started with melodious Saraswati Vandana by Ashok Bhardwaj, Debashree Das, Anjali Rathore, Dhira Singh, Anup Kumar Biruly.

The participants who performed at the event were Ashok Bhardwaj, Debashree  Das, Anjali Rathore, Dhira Singh, Anup Kumar Biruly, Hrishikesh Kar,  Debashree Das, Rajesh Singh, Sarvesh Kumar, Ashok Nanda, Rinki Laxkar,  Neeru Gupta, Anjali Bhatia, Hemant Bisht, Sharmila Lama, Major General  Mukesh Gupta, Om Prakash Raheja.

The first performance was given by Dhira Singh with 'Kahin Door Jab  Din Dhal Jai' and further, everyone performed songs as per their choices. It was a mix of folk and Old Bollywood numbers. The audience encouraged the singers with loud applause.

Madhumita Acharya Biswas, Founder of Melody Foundation, says, “It was a huge gathering after the pandemic and I would like to congratulate everyone, the anchors, guests,  participants, audience, co-organisers (ANHLGT) of the show for making it a success.” She added, “Melody Foundation made a beginning in May 2007 in Delhi with few students of Dwarka. It was created to promote and impart quality training in Indian classical music."

Mini George,Treasurer,  ANHLGT, says, "It was great to have organised such an event after so long.  I think 'suron ki mehfil' was very good platform for eveyones childhood dreams of singing was fullfilled."
