Concretisation of ground under progress at the market in front of Anand Lok Apartment in MV I Extension.
As part of its plan to spruce up existing markets in residential colonies, DDA has begun re-developing the local market in front of Anand Lok Apartment in Mayur Vihar Phase I Extension.
“DDA has framed a new structure for upcoming markets, whereas the state of existing markets will be improved,” said Prakash Chand, project engineer (DDA) for Mayur Vihar.
Residents of nearly 10 co-operative group housing societies regularly visit the Anank Lok market. Three sides of the market would now be surrounded by a boundary wall with a gate on each side. The jhuggies that had encroached upon the space at the rear side of the market will also be removed. It will also get a sewer system.
"DDA will carry out concretisation of the ground and the construction of the boundary wall. Work on the sewer systems will be done by the DJB,” Chand said.
Residents, however, feel that authorities should also think about encroachment outside the market. "There is no space for parking vehicles as vendors have encroached upon the entire area in adjoining roads and footpaths,” said JP Sharma, secretary of Joint Forum of 16 co-operative group housing societies in Mayur Vihar Phase I.
