New in Noida? Here's your chance to enrol yourself on the voter list

It cannot get easier than this. Just land up at your society club or community centre on a weekend and get yourself listed at the special enrolment camps.

New in Noida? Here's your chance to enrol yourself on the voter list Picture used for representative purpose only.

Recently shifted to Noida? Worried about not having your name on the voter list? Fret not. The district administration has been striving to include residents of newly developed sectors in the electoral rolls of the city.

AK Singh, SDM (Noida), said that the district administration has been organising enrolment camps at different societies in sectors 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, etc. Keeping the schedule of officegoers in mind, the administration has been organising camps only on weekends.

“Besides booth-level officers, who are revising voter lists of old sectors and villages, a team of accountants has been constituted to enrol new voters. They are holding special camps at the societies’ club houses between 10 am and 5 pm on weekends. We have covered Gaur City, Mahagun Moderne and Prateek Wisteria in the past two weeks. The campaign started on September 15 and will continue till October 31 to cover all residential pockets of the city,” Singh said.

The move is expected to benefit thousands of residents who will now be able to register on the electoral rolls without any hassle. The district administration aims to add 30,000 to 40,000 new residents in the voter list of the forthcoming assembly election.

However, NM Sharma, a resident of Paramount Floraville, a society in Sector 137, said, “There are nine societies in Sector 137, where approximately 5,000 families have shifted permanently. But I am yet to see any voter enrolment camp being organised in my apartment.”

In response to his concerns, the district administration told City Spidey that the initiative is yet to reach Sector 137. Singh said, “This sector will also be covered and the staff will approach residents shortly.”
