GreNo 'door to door' garbage collection plan is on the anvil

Greater Noida: Under the plan of Decentralized Solid Waste Management, the Greater Noida Authority has taken the steps to ensure 'door to door' collection and disposal of garbage from every household of Greater Noida for the next seven years. The authority has also floated tenders for door to door waste collection in the sectors and villages of the cluster-four area. The areas that come under cluster four are Omicron One, One A, Two and Three, Pai One and Two, Bironda, Birundi and Echhar. The process of selecting the agency which will execute this plan has started with taking on the 'Bid Document' . The last date for the same is December 29. The bids will be opened on December 31, 2021.

More emphasis is being laid on decentralized solid waste management in Greater Noida on the instructions of the Authority's CEO Narendra Bhushan, so that the responsibility of picking up garbage from households to processing it to compost or making bio-methane gas is on a single company. Under the plan, the selected company will pick up the garbage from individual homes. After this, the garbage would be taken to the MARF (Material Recovery Facility) center and processed into biogas or compost.

Greater Noida has been divided into five clusters to make sure the process of 'door to door' waste collection is smooth. Preparations are also being made to make biogas from the garbage coming out of the area of Cluster Four. The biogas thus produced could be used to generate fuel or electricity. Earlier, it was decided to make bio-methanation gas from the garbage of cluster one.

Bio-methanation technology will be used for the disposal of waste from this cluster. Authorization tender process is being finalized for 'door to door' waste collection in Cluster three key area. The authority has already floated tenders for 'door to door' collection from the houses in cluster two and five. Now, tenders have been floated for Cluster Four as well.
