Noida: The Shaheed Smarak Sanstha celebrated the Vijay Diwas on December 22, 2021, where an homage was paid to 38 martyrs in a wreath-laying ceremony. The chief guest on the occasion was SN Ghormade, Vice Chief of the Naval staff.

The ceremonial tri-service guard and buglers led by Lt Commander Nikhil Sharma carried out the Wreath laying ceremony. The running commentary was given by Mrs Manju Rai and Col OP Mehta. The Shahid Smarak Sanstha has been celebrating Vijay Divas since 2002.

The Chief Guestpaid homage to 38 martyrs in the presence of officials and family members of the martyrs. Wreaths were also laid to honour the unknown soldiers.

After releasing ‘Glimpses of Events 2021’, the chief guest congratulated the dedicated team of Sanstha for this meaningful event. He paid rich tributes to the brave martyrs who made supreme sacrifice while being on duty to safeguard our motherland.

The event became an emotional time for the family members of the martyrs. Many were left teary-eyed as the achievements of the martyrs were recalled and each martyr’s family member was called to lay a wreath. Due to COVID protocols, limited people were invited.

Chairman GL Bakshi welcomed the Chief Guest and expressed gratitude on the behalf of Sanstha. He reminded the gathering that there are many memorials in the country but Shaheed Smarak is the first Tri-Services Memorial in the country raised by Noida on 13 April 2002 to honour its war dead and the only memorial which represents Army, Navy and Air Force.

He thanked three service headquarters, HQ Delhi Area, Army HQ Signal Regiment, Noida Authority, Noida police, Army Public School and heads of Arun Vihar and Jal Vayu Vihar for their assistance from time to time.

Speaking to the media, Narinder Mahajan, Director PR & Media, informed that the Annual Day function will be celebrated on 17 February 2022 and a souvenir of Smarak will be released by the Chief of the Army Staff.
