Sunder Nursery, a spot that stands true to its name

As fast-paced, vibrant, and busy as Delhi is, there is also another side to it as well. The side that is calm, tranquil, peaceful, green and historical, as nothing in Delhi is devoid of history. One place that possesses all these qualities is Sunder Nursery, a heritage park in South of Delhi.

located next to the world heritage site of Humayun's tomb and Delhi zoo, it is easily accessible and has ample parking space. Spread over an area of 90 acres, Sunder Nursery is also sometimes called 'Delhi's Central Park' (unofficially). It is adorned with beautiful species of plants and flowers and hosts six heritage monuments including Sundarwala Burj, Sundarwala Mahal and Lakkarwala Burj among others. The park is interspersed with a number of beautifully landscaped water bodies, formal gardens, fountains, water channels, and flower beds. There is a newly started cafe, located next to a big water body, swings for the kids, and proper signages.

Apart from holding an abundance of history, the place is also a stamping ground for picnics and retreat from regular mundane life. It is also a good place to feel closer to nature and also homes Delhi's first arboretum.

Such green covers in the capital are not only necessary for the environment but also to take respite from the city life, which the residents of the capital are in dire need of. With the eventual plans to link Sunder Nursery to Purana Qila and the Zoo, Delhi will get a literal green heart.
