Cheese: It contains 945 IUs of vitamin A per 100 grams. It also has small quantities of vitamin K, E, B6, B12, and riboflavin, pantothenic acid, folate, and betaine.
Butter: Butter is a rich source of vitamin A and choline. It contains 2499 IUs of vitamin A per 100 grams. Along with that, butter also contains vitamin K and E, niacin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, and folate.
CitySpidey reached out to Kalpana Sethi, a Delhi-based Nutritionist to enlighten us on this puzzle. She says, “While butter is completely fat, cheese has a substantial amount of protein and even provides calcium."
Further, Kalpana compared the contents of cheese with that of butter and concluded that certain cheeses may have more protein than butter.
“Health enthusiasts will know that milk products provide proteins, however, cheese has more protein than butter."
She mentioned that cheese contains 18 grams of protein per 100 grams while butter has minuscule 0.8 grams of protein per 100 grams. When it comes to fat, cheese again wins as the butter has double the amount of both saturated and trans fat.
Kalpana finally said, "For the unversed, cheese is a good source of several vitamins and minerals including calcium which is important for teeth and bone health and development.”
The nutritionist however warned about the higher sodium content in cheese and advises switching to low sodium cheese options. "Also opt for non-processed options with fewer additives," She says.
